Culinary Traditions Focused Program: promoting and documenting Ethiopian cusine
Food is an important part of Ethiopians heritage. Our culinary programs are designed to enrich and promote this rich, diverse culinary traditions by creating an immersive, educational, and participatory platform for the North American diaspora and the wider community. We aim to connect people to their heritage and introduce new audiences to Ethiopian culture through its most universal language: food.

This multi-faceted program partners with Ethiopian chefs, restaurants, and grocery stores across the US and Canada to deliver a series of events and digital content. We will move beyond the well-known staples to explore the vast regional diversity, unique ingredients, and profound cultural significance of Ethiopian cuisine.
The "Taste of Ethiopia" Restaurant Series (Live Events)
A curated touring event hosted in partnership with participating restaurants in major cities.
The "Market to Table" Workshop Series (Educational & Participatory)
Hosted in partnership with Ethiopian supermarkets and grocery stores, these hands-on cooking demonstrations or classes—led by a chef or elder from the community—are held in community kitchens or partner venues, with a special emphasis on traditional holiday dishes.
The Digital Hub
The website will be the central resource for all things related to the program, featuring:
- Partner Directory: An interactive map of all participating restaurants and grocery stores across the US and Canada.
- Recipe Library: A beautifully photographed collection of recipes, categorized by region and difficulty, from our partner chefs.
- Chef & Owner Spotlights: Video interviews and profiles showcasing the stories of the chefs and entrepreneurs keeping this culinary tradition alive abroad.
- Cultural Deep Dives: Articles and short videos exploring the history of teff, the significance of the coffee ceremony, and the differences between regional cuisines.
- Event Calendar & Ticketing: A central place to find and register for all “Taste of Ethiopia” dinners and “Market to Table” workshops.
