About Bellete
Bellete Wolde-Yohannes completed his early education at Catholic Nativity Boys School (Cathedral) and Teferi Mekonnen High School in Addis Ababa. In June 1969, he came to the United States on an American Field Service scholarship, spending his student year in Anaheim, California.
He went on to pursue higher education, earning his undergraduate degree from California State University, Fullerton, followed by a graduate degree in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Bellete began his professional career at Smith Kline Beckman, where he held various responsibilities over seven years. In 1986, he transitioned to public service with the City of Los Angeles, where he built a long and distinguished career until his retirement in February 2017.
Today, Bellete resides in Southern California with his family and proudly embraces his new role as a grandfather.
