
Dr. Mengistu Lemma was born in Fitche, Ethiopia. After completing his elementary and high school education in Ethiopia, he moved to the United States for higher education in the late 1970s. He earned his undergraduate degree in East Texas and later received his graduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas. Dr. Lemma went on to work as a professional in his field for more than 30 years across North and South America, the Middle East, and Asia.
Beyond his professional career, Dr. Lemma has been deeply involved in establishing evangelical Christian ministries within the Ethiopian diaspora. He served as conference director and worship leader in the early years of the Ethiopian Evangelical Churches Fellowship in North America, and later held the same roles in the Midwest Ethiopian Evangelical Churches Annual Conference.
Dr. Lemma is also a founding member, elder, and teacher at both the Ethiopian Christian Believers Church in Dallas and the Ethiopian Christian Fellowship Church in Houston, where he currently serves as pastor.
